SOS Save our Scilly

Welcome to SOS Save our Scilly

NOTE: OFFICIAL SOS STATEMENT RELEASED SINCE RADIO SCILLY POLL, CLICK ON NEW PAGE ON LEFT TO VIEW

We are the group organised to highlight the ongoing problems caused by the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust and their hugely un popular Conservation Grazing Programme

We strongly object to the wholesale destruction of headlands and coastal areas on St Marys and Bryher, with cattle and ponies being allowed to roam on footpaths, and the extensive use of electric fencing blighting the landscape

The Trust say they are speaking and listening to the public in relation to grazing smaller areas, not allowing cattle on footpaths, grazing areas for shorter periods of time and keeping fences back from footpaths, This is clearly not the case as this area from Peninnis Lighthouse to Pulpit Rock is quite a large area to be fenced off with only two access points, various smaller footpaths blocked, cattle free to roam on footpaths and this area has now been grazed for at least 5 to 6 weeks and continues to be. Also this area has always self managed itself by way of wind and salt spray, there is no good reason for grazing this area

Photos from Paula of Innisidgen, This is a typically wet area and just gets even more churned up by cattle, plus cattle grazing what is virtually a lawn by burial chamber
